CropNimble vs Photoroom
Every comparison on this site starts from the one thing none of these tools can match: with CropNimble, your photos never leave your computer. The rest is what each tool is for, and what it costs.
Where your photos go
The difference that decides it for a lot of people. Everything in the right-hand column is quoted from Photoroom’s own pages, with the link.
Nowhere. The photos stay on your PC.
- The AI model that finds the item is inside the program and runs on your own graphics card or processor. There is no upload code to switch off.
- No analytics, no telemetry. The free version needs no account at all.
- Premium signs in with your email to check your subscription. That check carries your sign-in and the app’s version number, never a photo, and Premium keeps working for 10 days between checks.
- Apart from that, the program only asks cropnimble.com for a small version file, and you can turn that off in Settings.
- Said in writing: the privacy page and the licence agreement.
Uploaded to Photoroom’s servers, every time.
- Photoroom runs on Google Cloud and Amazon servers in the United States. Its security page: "Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services in the United States." source
- Your uploads train its AI unless you opt out, and the opt-out is not retroactive. Its privacy policy: "By using Photoroom, you acknowledge that Photoroom processes and uses the images you upload to improve, train and develop Photoroom’s products, services and models. You can opt-out of this at any time by changing the settings on your account. This opt out shall not have retroactive effect on processing activities already carried out." source
- The "Improve model for everyone" setting is on by default, per account, and has to be found and switched off. source
- Its terms take a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and modify anything you submit, "solely for use in connection with our provision of the Services" (while saying Photoroom claims no ownership of it). source

Which one, honestly
- You need the background removed or replaced, not just cropped away — Photoroom’s AI cutouts, studio backgrounds and shadows are its whole point.
- You shoot on a phone and want to edit on the phone; Photoroom’s iPhone and Android apps are good at that.
- You want templates, text, logos and marketplace-sized layouts in one tool — and for up to 1,000 exports a month its Pro plan costs less than CropNimble Premium.
- Your photos are stock you are selling, or client work, and you would rather not grant anyone a perpetual licence over them — even one limited to running the service — or feed them to a model.
- You shoot on white already and the job is cropping two hundred photos to the item, square, with an even margin — the thing Photoroom’s batch does at 2048 px, CropNimble does at full resolution, on your own computer.
- You crop more than 1,000 photos a month: Premium has no export limit, where Photoroom Pro stops at 1,000 a month and Max at 3,000.
- You run a shop on a small budget: CropNimble’s free version may be used commercially, with no account; Photoroom’s free plan may not.
What it costs over time
Photoroom’s batch exports need a paid plan. Its cheapest, Pro, is $12.99 a month, or $7.50 a month billed yearly ($90 a year), for up to 1,000 exports a month; Max, for up to 3,000, is $20.99 a month billed yearly. Its free plan may not be used commercially. CropNimble’s free version may, and it batch-crops whole folders with a daily export limit; Premium removes every limit.

How CropNimble is priced
The free version is $0 and needs no account: the same crops at full resolution, with no watermark, limited to 15 exports a day and 15 Accurate-model crops to try. Premium removes the limits and adds the watch folder and Split Items, for up to three computers: $18.99 a month, with the first 14 days free, or $198.99 a year. No credits, and cancel anytime. Pricing details.
Photoroom’s prices and export limits are from its US pricing page in October 2026; the yearly totals are 12 × its monthly prices billed yearly (our arithmetic). For up to 1,000 exports a month, Photoroom Pro costs less than CropNimble Premium; Premium has no export limit, keeps full resolution in batches, and never uploads a photo.
Switching takes five minutes
- Download and unzip. No installer: unzip the folder and run CropNimble. It is signed, needs nothing else installed, and starts as the free version, with no account.
- Drop a folder of photos in. Press Batch Auto-Crop All. Each photo is cropped to its item; anything the program is unsure of gets an amber dot so you can glance at it.
- Export. Square or not, JPEG, PNG or WebP, with a size limit if your marketplace wants one. The originals are untouched.
Questions people ask
Is CropNimble a Photoroom alternative?
For one job, yes: cropping product photos shot on a white background, in bulk, without uploading them. CropNimble does not remove or replace backgrounds, add shadows or make templates — Photoroom does all of that. If your photos are already on white and you want them cropped tight, square and consistent, CropNimble is the more private tool for it: it runs without an upload, and its free version may be used for your shop.
Does Photoroom upload my photos?
Yes. Photoroom is a cloud service; its security page says its infrastructure runs on Google Cloud and AWS in the United States, and every edit — including the background remover and the Batch feature — starts by uploading the image. CropNimble has no upload path at all: the AI model that finds the item is inside the program and runs on your own computer.
Does Photoroom use my photos to train its AI?
By default, yes. Photoroom’s privacy policy says uploaded images are used to improve, train and develop its models, and its help centre explains that the "Improve model for everyone" setting is on by default and must be switched off per account; the opt-out is not retroactive. CropNimble never sees your photos, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Can I use Photoroom’s free plan for my shop?
Photoroom’s help centre says free accounts are for personal, non-commercial use only. CropNimble’s free version may be used commercially; it is limited by volume (15 exports a day), not by quality or licence.
What does CropNimble cost compared with Photoroom?
CropNimble’s free version costs nothing, needs no account and may be used for your shop, with 15 exports a day. Premium, for unlimited exports and the Accurate model, is $18.99 a month or $198.99 a year for up to three computers, and the monthly plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Photoroom’s Pro plan — the cheapest that exports batches — is $12.99 a month, or $7.50 a month billed yearly ($90 a year), for up to 1,000 exports a month, so it costs less than Premium at that volume; Max, for up to 3,000 a month, is $20.99 a month billed yearly. Photoroom’s free plan is for personal use only.
Does CropNimble run on a Mac or a phone?
No. CropNimble is a Windows program (Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit). Photoroom runs in a browser, on iPhone, iPad, Android and Apple-silicon Macs, but has no Windows desktop app.
Try it on your own photos first. The free version makes the same crops, with a daily limit — no account, no upload, no card. Premium is free for 14 days.
